After a period of disorientation, caused by moving my main studio from Bali to Sydney, I found a new approach to my work. The output started ironically in Bali with four pieces of this new series, which I call “Color Windows” but I am sure that they were the result of a few months of experimentation in my Syndney studio. The concept is very simple:
Each painting is exactly one square meter (1x1m).
Each painting has in its centre, again two squares:
The inner square of 14,5x14,5cm sits in a square of 24x24cm.
The 24 cm square works like a frame for the inner square.
After 13 years of pursuing painting with very little colour and concentrating on the very moment of expression, allowing a calligraphic stroke to be happening, by blending out control, I am focusing on colour again as the main messenger.
